Video: Rock The Bells Press Conference

Rock The Bells 2009 Press Conference

Chang Weisberg gives all the info (as of yet) on the Rock The Bells lineup. It's gonna be hosted by KRS-1, Supernat, Murs, and Pete Rock. Hopefully Supernatural will actually stay on stage for minutes at a time this year...

Ghostface gracing the stage

Well, it's 3 day's after Rock The Bells, I've had a horrible week, and quite frankly, I've been exhausted since Rock The Bells, so here's the deal. I'm gonna give you guys a little treat, instead of a review, I'm just gonna post the best pictures that i took (excluding those that i already posted).
Leave a comment saying what your favorite pic is.

Rock The Bells '08 Coverage pt.1

A Tribe Called Quest performing at the event

Rock The Bells. The gathering of today's up-and-coming artists, current all-stars, and MC's that have been around since the birth of hip-hop. Rock The Bell's first took place in California, 2004, and re-united Wu-Tang onstage. The thing about Rock The Bells, is that despite all of the horrible rappers out there (see Soulja Boy, Lil' Wayne, Jim Jones, etc.) they seem to find a way to exclude them from the festivities.

This year's show was no different. With a pretty amazing line-up and Supernatural as the "host" (he came on stage about three times). Naturally, Supernat had to bust a freestyle, it's what he does (the video will be up soon)

So finally, after some delays, the first performer BOB came out. Now, I'm not that big of a BOB fan, so i didn't pay much attention to his performance.

After BOB however came Murs.

Murs

I wasn't looking to forward to watching Murs due to his one song that I had heard previously (can't remember the name). However after watching him, I was pretty convinced that i had been wrong before. He's a pretty good MC after all, and he's pretty cool; insulting Soulja Boy (you always get cool points for that) even bringing his mom onstage.

Next up on the line-up was my man

Immortal Technique

Now Immortal absolutely tore up the stage. I went to the event with my friend, and before Immortal's performance, he didn't like him much. After however, he told me that he was gonna go home and get some of his shit.

He played a whole mess of his songs, including "Bin Laden", "Point of No Return", "Peruvian Cocaine", and "Obnoxious". In between these performances he gave some speeches and even spit his verse from "Golpe de Estado"acapella off of The 3rd World.

Once Technique was through Dead Prez came on

Dead Prez

I'm going to be completely honest with you. I know that Dead Prez is one of the most amazing duos in hip-hop, but i was never really into them, hence, I didn't know any of the songs that they performed. They weren't bad, but they were definitely not the best act.
After Dead Prez performed, i took a little break in the lounge, which is what I'm going to do now. I've decided to break this up into 3 or four parts, it's a lot of work writing a review, having to edit all the video's yourself, and on top of that working the day after a twelve hour concert. I will get to writing the other parts of the review immediately, so check back soon.

BTW, video's of Supernatural's freestyle and Immortal Technique's speeches will be up as soon as I can upload them to the oh so fast YouTube
